Commercial Cleaning Planning Tips For Business Owners

Juanita Douglas

In a post-pandemic world, ensuring your commercial buildings are clean and sanitary is going to be more important than ever. How you choose to approach this can determine the health and safety of your staff and clients, which can affect the success of your business. Fortunately, by contracting with a commercial building cleaning program, you can be sure that proper sanitation methods are upheld.

Be Prepared to Revise Your Cleaning Plan

With frequent updates on proper virus prevention and cleaning coming frequently from government agencies and health organizations, it is important to schedule regular meetings with your cleaning services so that you can develop the best implementation strategies. Part of this plan will detail what parts of the building require frequent disinfection and which will only require routine cleaning. As a general rule of thumb, inside areas with high traffic should be disinfected more often, while little-used areas, outdoor areas, and personal areas (such as an employee's desk) may only require regular cleaning.

Require Daily as Well as Weekly Services

Prior to the pandemic, many businesses only brought in cleaning services for a deep cleaning periodically. This is no longer sufficient. Plan for a weekly deep cleaning and disinfecting once a week, preferably when the building is empty. You also will need to have a daily service that comes in and disinfects high traffic areas, such as lobbies, restrooms, and meeting rooms. Further, you will need to train your own staff on techniques for disinfecting and cleaning throughout the workday.

Develop Protocols That Favor Sanitation

Certain protocols can help keep your building sanitary. For example, it may be worthwhile to hire someone to handle the front door to cut down on the number of people touching door handles or elevator buttons in a busy building. Requiring certain personal protective equipment for specific tasks, such as face masks or gloves, can also lower the spread of germs. A cleaning service may be able to advise and even train your normal maintenance staff on techniques to utilize during the day to help maintain a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation. Just make sure you have plenty of resources available for use, whether it be gloves, hand sanitizer stations, or sanitizing wipes.

Navigating the cleaning needs of your building can be a challenge.

About Me
Flower Planting 101: Simplifying Your Planting Maps

One of the things that I always loved about spring as a kid was watching all of the flowers my mother planted suddenly come up from the ground and then bloom into vibrant, beautiful colors. When I bought my own house, one of the first things I wanted to do was plant flowers. What I didn't realize was how hard it could be to figure out what to plant where. From the sun demand to the companion planting guides, it was complicated. I created this site to help others just like me create the flower gardens they always wanted without the struggles that I faced.
